Weekliii Round-Up: News on Seismic Surveying Applications and Story Map Journaling

This week has been brought to you by endless amounts of caffeine, #DailyBrainCandiii and #MeetTheProduct posts, and even news about the upcoming 2018 Esri Petroleum GIS Conference in Houston, TX. Read up and enjoy!

Integrated Geodetics Toolkit for ArcGIS, software for converting seismic well survey data into GIS data file formats.

Both having your data and being able to use it sometimes seems like a bizarre request. For well survey and seismic navigation data - complete with its various formats and standards across businesses - this can seem like an exceptionally daunting feat. Fortunately for those who require a way to convert these files into more manageable formats or even load them into your Geographic Information System (GIS) in the first place, there is an app for that. Meet GDX - or Integrated Geodetics Toolkit - in this week's #MeetTheProduct post.

There are many ways to display a map. Gone are the days where the spatial interpretations we see consist solely of a few points here and there paired with a title, legend, and north arrow. In its place have popped up many a way to view this data - from web apps to mobile interactions, we have been successful in designing maps that not only fit the data they represent, but also to fit the technology on which they are shown.

One of these resources is the Story Map Journal. When Esri introduced the Story Map, they provided Geographic Information System (GIS) users a quick and seamless way to create a simple narrative with their spatial data. With this enhancement, they have broadened that design, turning the map story into a full-blown resource that acts as a web page and article view of your data. Learn more about how to set this up and ways in which you can apply it in your own workflows in this Esri post.

Are you a petroleum professional, an oilfield "old pro", or even a GIS guru? We have a talk for you! We are only a few weeks out from Esri's Petroleum GIS Conference - or as some know it, Esri PUG - in Houston, TX. Our team will be giving a talk on Utilizing Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to Effectively Manage Pipeline Regulatory Requirements on Thursday, May 10th. Find the full announcement in our News & Events section.

With the numerous applications of Natural Gas, it has become a prime resource to fuel many aspects of our everyday lives - including the economy. Find out how expansion and infrastructure may be crucial in ensuring the US economy stays competitive in such a diverse market in this week's #DailyBrainCandiii post.

#DailyBrainCandiii and #WeekliiiRoundUp are inspired by brain candiii, a division of Integrated Informatics that develops Geographic Information System (GIS) training for Energy and Natural Resources professionals.
