Weekliii Round-Up: News on Spatial Analysis Insights and Development in the Southern Gas Corridor

We know many of you are gearing up to head out to the West Coast for the Esri User Conference...so while you finish up your last bit of work or finally get around to packing for the trip, here are a few quick reads to catch up on. Dive in to what we have shared this week below!

Maps are a hot spot for analyses. From the thought that goes in to creating the map itself – deciding which questions you want to answer and what questions you want to prompt readers to ask – to using its contents to find patterns, assess trends, and making decisions…it is no wonder spatial analysis is all the rage. On the eve of Esri’s biggest conference of the year, dig a little deeper into ways you can employ The Power of Where into your workflows in this week’s #DailyBrainCandiii post.

At the end of June, BP and its partners announced the start-up of Shah Deniz 2, including its first commercial gas delivery to Turkey. This project is the first subsea development in the Caspian Sea and is the starting point for the Southern Gas Corridor series of pipelines set to deliver Natural Gas from the Caspian Sea directly to European markets for the first time in 2020. Find out more about the project here.

Industries like Natural Resources and Emergency Response face plenty of hurdles, especially as far as pipeline regulations are concerned. It is time to view these obstacles as opportunities to do better. Thankfully, Geographic Information System (GIS) technology makes that easy enough. View the latest post in our series on Effectively Managing Pipeline Regulatory Requirements with GIS – now up on the blog!

Are you attending this year's Esri User Conference in sunny San Diego? Be sure to pencil us in on Thursday, July 12th at 2:30 PM PT for our talk on Spatial Data Discovery: Assessing Enterprise Data Standards for ArcGIS Pro. This presentation will be held during the Implementing ArcGIS Pro track. See you there!
